LOD is Really Simple, or Moisture Analysis for the Newbie

Written by Art Gatenby | Jun 12, 2015 8:51:00 PM

One quiet night, long ago I was musing over moisture analysis and how easy it is to do using Loss-on Drying (LOD). Little did I know what was in store.

These musings morphed into a parade of five essays that dealt with everything from vapor pressure, to free or bound moisture, to water activity and other exotic scientific wonders, but for many of you a simple, everyday chemistry concept.

Over the years I finally came to realize that we also needed a basic (KISS) representation of the time-honored moisture determination technique of Loss on Drying (LOD). With this object in mind we built this presentation, “LOD is Really Simple, or Moisture Analysis for the Newbie”. We hope you find it useful and fun.

Please share this with colleagues who work with moisture measurement.

I continue to be mystified by trying to figure out what should be simple measurement fundamentals.
